Scale Model Making

I most recently made this diorama of a scene from Norton Juster’s The Phantom Tollbooth for a museum in Washington DC called Planet Word. You can see it in their library on permanent display. Using wood, wire, epoxy clay, urethane plastics, paper, led lights, plexiglass and acrylic paint, I illustrated the moment during King Azaz’s banquet where Milo realizes that everyone has to eat their words. Hidden in each of the dishes on the table are words for the corresponding foods.

I have created several other gallery models, including full floorpans of upcoming exhibits at The American Museum of Natural History. I’ve worked with designers to flesh out and finalize designs for displays, interactives, themes, dioramas, wall construction and the intricacies of case work.
